Scary Darkness.

"Someone once told me that none of us are actually afraid of the dark; we're scared of what it conceals from us. We're afraid of having something with the potential to hurt us standing right before our eyes and not registering it
as a threat"

So you're afraid of the dark?? Yeah.. Me too!
Most of us, at some point in our lives were terrified of dark places, wait, did I say most of us?? I meant all of us. Being afraid of the dark is something that makes us human, it's natural, the dark has always frightened mankind.
The reason behind this fact according to research, is that our fore-relatives, people that lived long before us were usually attacked by predators during the darkest parts of the day and it therefore stuck in their memory and was passed from one generation to another (I don't get this). Also, 60% of lion attacks in Tanzania between 1988 and 2009 occured within the time frame - 6.00-9.45 pm and those who were afraid of the dark survived most of the attacks (naturally).
Children within the age bracket of 4 to 6 are the most responsive to nyctophobia - fear of the dark but as they grow older, the fear diminishes, but this doesn't happen with everyone and that's why some adults remain scared of the dark even at their old age (agbaya).
Well, there isn't a lot of solutions to this problem, matter of fact, the only solution I know is to stay in dark places for longer periods, but you'll rather not do that, would you?? Cos I know I won't.
Buh remember, Plato once said:
"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light"
Till next time,, keep dreaming!!
