The Passion of the Sport!

It's the weekend again and yes, we know what accompanies the weekend right? SPORTS! Especially for the guys.
I'm talking about the incessant rambling of the behind the scene analysts and the under the tree pundits.. We know everything, absolutely everything, we know how best the game should be played, how well the ball should be struck, when to fire a manager and when not to fire a manager, we know, we know who has performed well and who should be sidelined for the next match, we know all. We know everything. Yet we are far, far away from where the actual action is taken place..
It's a thing of passion however, there is a feeling of contentment that overtakes you when you see your team doing well, or winning something. Remember that feeling you had in your guts when the Super Eagles of Nigeria won the Nations cup for the first time in 16 years?? Ya, that kind of stuff. It makes you feel 'fine' for lack of a better word.
When our team doesn't win? It's another story, we lament of the mistakes the manager made, we ask rhetorical questions like - why in God's name did he bench that striker?, the attack was totally flat. We complain, complain, complain and complain however, next week, we are there, first in line, holding the remote control up to the television set, back on the edge of our seats with our hearts full of hope like we do, every single weekend - 'this week will be better than last week, the striker is on the starting line up', 'that decent mid-fielder is back from injury'. Our thoughts are all over the place, we're considering what is going on the log and what three points will do for our precious team.
It's called passion and that's what make us fans. It doesn't matter that we are millions of miles away from the action, what matters is that we love our teams, and we love them very dearly..
Till next time,, keep dreaming!!
